Military Justice Review Panel
Our Mission:
To ensure fairness and effectiveness in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Established under the National Defense Authorization Act, we conduct independent reviews and assessments of the UCMJ's operation.
The Military Justice Review (MJRP), established under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017 and subsequent amendments, serves a vital role in ensuring the fair and effective operation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
At the heart of our mission is conducting independent periodic reviews and assessments of the UCMJ's operation. This includes evaluating the implementation of amendments to the UCMJ and analyzing sentencing data. We have the authority to request information from federal agencies, hold hearings, and gather evidence necessary to fulfill our duties.
Our reports, submitted to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives, provide comprehensive findings and recommendations based on our reviews and assessments.
The Military Justice Review Panel consists of thirteen members appointed by various authorities, including the Secretary of Defense, the Attorney General, and the heads of military legal branches.
Through our dedicated efforts, we uphold the principles of justice and integrity within the military legal system, ensuring the rights and well-being of service members and the effectiveness of military justice.
